Water pump shaft snapped now low oil pressure light?

I've got a strange issue with my ZX-6R. I only noticed it after hearing a weird noise, and it turns out the water pump shaft broke right at the oil pump. Now the low oil pressure light is on

Does anyone know why the oil light would pop on if it's just the water pump shaft that's affected? Has anyone else dealt with this? Thanks for any help

They might not be as separate as they seem, on ZX 6R, the water pump and oil pump are driven off the same shaft so if the shaft snapped at the oil pump, then the oil pump isn't turning either, which would explain the low oil pressure light coming on, so basically no oil pump means no oil pressure, I'd avoid firing it up again until you replace the shaft and confirm oil flow

That broken shaft is a bigger deal than it sounds, on the ZX-6R, the water pump and oil pump often share the same shaft or drive gear. If it snapped, your oil pump likely isn't turning either

Kawasaki's design on the ZX-6R ties the water pump and oil pump drives together, so when your water pump shaft sheared, your oil pump likely stopped spinning too. That's why your oil pressure light's on. Engine's at serious risk, don't run it.
